So. It goes like this:
Lou and Chevy are quite possibly the gassiest felines I have ever owned.
Chevy especially went through a stage where he would literally eat almost anything that isn’t tied down and a few things that were (Pica and kittycat OCD are a bitch!), and the result is..well..epic cat farts (and, other, more disgusting things I have talked about here). I have facebooked and tweeted about this phenomenon –they’re actually some of my most popular posts.
Well. Finally this epic cat gas got to be a bit much..popular posts or not, I wasn’t appreciating the positively vile aroma emanating from either Lou or Chevy from time to time, and neither of them were appreciating how it was cutting into ‘snuggle with Mommy’ time.
So something had to be done.
It so happens that Lou happens to like greek yogurt. It also happens that Activia has come out with a greek yogurt of their own. I thought it was pretty good. Lou, being older, knew from the moment I popped the top on the yogurt what it was, and looked at me with adoring eyes and claws carefully flexed on the kitchen floor.
So I offered him a spoonful of yogurt. and after he made sure that the outside noises weren’t coming *in*, he lapped up the yogurt with enthusiasm.
Chevy had to be sweet talked into eating the yogurt, but once he saw Lou eating it, he wanted some too.
Fast forward about a week and I noticed that the gas clouds were decreasing in number and vileness..so I kept feeding the cats Activia until the problem was resolved.
