We’ve gotten some wild weather here from the time Chevy was little, and on one night in particular, there was an active storm going on. It was like a scene out of the Wizard of Oz..every little girl knows the scene I’m talking about–the one where stuff is flying about with no rhyme or reason.
Neither Chevy, nor Lou, were taking this turn of the weather well. Bedlam ensued inside my home, as well as outside of it. This simply was not going to do.
I was getting ready to break into a box of calming collars, never mind that Chevy is allergic to them (they do great things for Lou), when I remembered that I had a bottle of Rescue Remedy in my purse. and I also knew that I had some freeze-dried cat treats in my kitchen cabinet.
‘What the hell, let’s try it’ being somewhat of a mantra around here, an idea was born.
I grabbed the treats and sprayed them with Rescue Remedy. I fed the treats to the cats, who, as always, gobbled those treats right up.
About 20 minutes later, the weather hadn’t let up a bit..but I’d gone from destructo-fighting-freaking out cats, to cats that were fast asleep.
..and I, was a happy and impressed Cat Mom.
So, to recap: A spritz of Rescue Remedy on a freeze dried cat treat, fed to the cats, does work an an aid (at least it does with my two cats) to create calm, happy, sleepy kitties.
It might work in your household, too.
